Sometimes I find it hard to open up to someone since I am not sure if they can be trusted.

Try talking into a stranger. They say these are the people who will listen and not judge you at same time.

I agree with this. Sometimes it's a lot easier to say what you feel to people who don't know you. You'll even get the best advice if you're lucky.

Personally I don't trust anyone who has to insist on every good quality they have.

"I'm a really honest person", "I'm just being honest", "Again, if you know me, you know how honest I am".

Big red flag. IMO honest people don't have to tell you over and over again that they are honest. From what I've seen they are using that to justify the times they haven't been honest, and are trying to instill that in you so they can use their deception more freely because they think you won't be looking for it if you know how honest they are.

Partly true specially if the person have a trust issue. But really, there are few people who are too much kind and honest. Very few that somehow we can say that it's "too good to be true". You are lucky if you bump in to a real one.

I completely agree. Truly honest individuals don't feel the need to proclaim their virtues. Their actions speak for themselves, and they don't require validation or explanation. Thank you for sharing your perspective.
