(Sticky) Sitewide Discussion on Rules, please read.

UPDATED: 9/8/2023

Hello everyone, and thank you again for being a part of the early stages of this project. I can happily say that we are succeeding in our goal of having a positive initial culture. With that in mind, we have been in discussion to try to figure out how we want to handle times in which the rules are violated. Because this platform is attempting to operate differently than other platforms, we want the community to have a say in how these violations are handled.

Below is a list of the tools moderators have at their disposal once a topic is reported.
Note - These are utilized by site moderators but also by the individuals who have created a topic or a sub-category. Don't forget you are responsible for moderating your topics and sub-categories. In exchange you receive a cut of every Recognition exchanged in your topic/sub-category. If you do not want that responsibility you are welcome to put someone else's username in the Recognition Split and they can moderate it for you. If the user who owns the topic or sub-category bans or blocks the user in question, they will not have access to that topic or sub-category. If a site moderator bans or blocks someone, the user will not have access to the site.

Warning - the user will receive a pop-up text box with a message from the moderator

Ban - a temporary block from the Topic or sub-category.

Block - a permanent ban

How do you want to use these tools?
What kinds of content requires intervention?
What kind of intervention should it receive?

I'll update this Topic to include the discussion points.

Updates:
We have received some feedback and are in the process of incorporating it into the current structure. The discussion now continues to allocate which offenses are considered Minor, Medium, or Major.

Minor - Warning
1. Failing to utilize site designations correctly (we should anticipate most new users will need some direction here. The site designations can be confusing at first).
2. Posting someone else's content without citing a source / indicating it is  Not OC (Not original content)
3. Spamming Comments
4. Inappropriate username / avatar
5.

Medium - Bans: 1 day to 1 week
1. Speech that is attacking individuals or groups
2. Failing to adjust accordingly following repeated warnings
3. Attempting to steal the content from other users for financial gain
4. Posting NSFW content outside of a NSFW designated sub-category
5.

Major - Block, Site-wide Block
1. Failing to adjust accordingly following repeated bans
2. Scamming others / Posting links to Phishing or harmful sites
3. Impersonating another individual, or pretending to represent an organization
4.

Thoughts?
Anything we need to add or change?

Beware of ATM

I don't know if y'all still use debit cards and ATMs but I still use it. Anyway, So I withdraw a cash on the ATM 'cause I need to buy some groceries. The cash did went out of the machine including the receipt but I was too focused putting My Debit card on my wallet that I forgot to take the money first. The ATM ate my money, like literally when I was about to get it, girl was like "You too slow, better luck next time, girl!". I was too shocked 'cause I know Mom would be whippin' my ass LOL. Moreover, It's really hassle to kind of report it to the bank. It's been like almost a week and My Money has not been reflected on my account. So, Guys, becareful as well and don't be too slow like me, Get it faster.

This is your sign to grab the opportunity before it slips away out of your hand *wink*.

MICROWAVE BABY

THE CASE OF THE GIRL & THE MICROWAVE BABY

A Story of "Anchoring Bias" by Robin Plank

“I have a file here with your name on it,” said Lillian Elliott, the district guardian ad litem case coordinator.”

“Why does the girl need a guardian?”

“The court has determined she’s a CINS kid herself, a child in need of services...because she put her baby sister in a microwave oven.”

Thus begins the story of Gay Courter, a volunteer guardian ad litem (GAL) from Florida. In her book, I Speak for This Child, True Stories of a Child Advocate, Gay records the difficulties of children who are in the dependency court system.  (To read the full story, click on the padlock icon, scroll down & then click on the  pdf file.)

Porch & Home Piratry

I saw this vid on FB where a guy was able to catch a thief stealing his belongings & spray painting 2 of his cameras on video- he was able to get the police to get a search warrant & actually recovered his belongings

My experience was a bit different

I came home with my 3 little children to 2 teenage boys running out of my garage (as I backed in) with their hands full of my belongings - police didn't even want descriptions - they said there was nothing they could do so I should make a list to file with homeowners insurance - as a single & disabled mom I didn't have enough income to pay for homeowners insurance - so I pray for those boys that God would turn up the heat enough in their lives to turn them around

Last Resort

Hi

I will be posting resources and self care tips in the near future. First I am in crisis mode, so I’m looking for help. I take care of my husband who is sick and we live on one income. I been trying to keep us afloat for years but Ive hit a wall. I lost my job and I don’t qualify for benefits and we are still waiting to see if my husband will get disability which I doubt. It is very hard to get approval. I created a gofundme with our full story and we got help that got us through April but now we aren’t sure if we will even make rent for May. I’m looking desperately for new work and hope to get something soon. If anyone is willing to either help is by donating or sharing my link I would greatly appreciate it. I’m so sorry for asking, I have tried everything else and I don’t know what to do. Below is the link to my gofundme.

Sitewide Notice

Please make sure you are using the Culture, Resources, Business, and Community Watch designations correctly when you are creating your Topics.
There are several topics that have been created that should only have been put under the Culture designation that have been put under every designation.

Which Categories should I select when I'm making my Topic?

Culture: This is your contribution to your culture whether it be local, global, or somewhere in between. Are you hosting an event? Are you hosting a debate or asking a question? Did you create something? Did you see something cool on your way to work? How was your day? Etc.

Resources: This is for things that you're offering for free. These can be social programs, giveaways, services, etc. As long as you are not charging for the service, it can be posted here.

Business: This is for services that you are hoping to use to make money. Deals, networking opportunities, specials, etc.

Community Watch: This is for things that are happening that you feel require some kind of attention. Did you wake up early and see that the roads are icy? Use this to let people in your area know. Do you have a question about a weird smell or loud noise in the middle of the night? Ask here.

Some examples of this in action are:

    I'm in a band! - Culture
My band is giving away free shirts! - Resources
My band is giving away free shirts at the upcoming festival! - Culture + Resources
My band's first album is for sale! - Business
