Hi everyone! My name is Amanda Dejonghe, and I have operated on both sides of creating a healthy workplace. My background is in engineering and I faced a lot of discrimination for my bipolar disorder in the workplace and I was able to take that experience and then build a community support group for people suffering from the disorder in general. I turned that into a non-profit and want to now have a separate space for people who want help handling situations involving mental health, and really health in general in the workplace. I want everyone with any background to feel welcome here and most importantly I want this to be a safe and open space where we all try to understand the perspectives of others. If in the future you guys feel weekly sessions on certain topics related to the sub-category would be desired, I have no problem either leading or just setting those up for everyone. We can also workshops working through certain issues brought up at different times. I will try and be around as much as possible to answer questions and provide support and never hesitate to reach out at any time. I look forward to building this community and hope we can all help each other grow.

Weekly insights on different topics would be really cool

How do you feel about other people running support groups here as well?

I can definitely do weekly insights to different topics! And I would be open to other people helping and having different support groups. I run two other ones as well so it would be nice to have help.

I'm a specialist in parenting, adoption, and emotional management. I'd be happy to run support groups for all three, or one that covers all elements depending on what you need.

I would love that! We can start with one for all three and see if we need to separate them. What day of the week/time is best for you?

I can make sure I'm answering everyone's questions 3x a week, probably MWF, and I'll be adding resources as I find them if that's ok

Hi, I'm very interested in this! I have faced discrimination in the workplace as well (woman in CS/math) related to my mental health and disabilities, particularly related to my autism, ADHD, and PTSD. I help lead a neurodiversity awareness/acceptance campaign at my workplace. I would love to perhaps bring the ND angle into this subcategory. I was also planning on creating a subcategory on this site to serve as an ND and chronic illness safe space.

I would love for you to add to the community about ND! It's hard to face discrimination in the workplace but I admire you for leading a campaign at your workplace.
